On March 16, 2018, iGHP had the honor to host a lecture by Mr. Rohit Kumar Pandey, co-founder and CEO of SigTuple Technologies in India. The lecture covered the fast-paced and impressive journey of Mr. Pandey and his colleagues, how a team of computer science engineers with an extensive experience in machine learning, image recognition and big data had dived into the field of healthcare in India and worked closely with a core team of medical doctors to develop a digital imaging and analyzing tool for the most common medical diagnostic tests in just two years. In introducing new technologies and finding business opportunities, Mr. Pandey stressed on the importance of working with experts in the field to identify current gaps and to ensure affordability, accessibility and accuracy of the tool in development.
Mr. Pandey’s lecture was followed by an engaging open panel discussion by pioneers of telemedicine and AI-usage in healthcare from both private and public sectors in Japan. The discussion ranged from how technological advancements, including AI, has transformed and will inevitably revolutionize patient-doctor interactions; whether we can expect profitability and sustainability of each business model; and the need for governments and private sectors to work together in order to increase value and efficiency to delivery of healthcare through the utilization of new technologies.
This seminar was capped by a networking event where the speakers and participants engaged in further lively discussions.
