Narrative CV

Eiko Kono received her DDS in 2003 and PhD in 2007 from Tokyo Medical and Dental University (TMDU). From 2009 to 2019, she was an assistant professor at TMDU and engaged in a series of clinical studies on masticatory function in partially dentate patients and addressed intensively how much masticatory function has impact on quality of life in the individuals. In 2011, she was a post-doctoral research fellow at Academic Centre for Dentistry Amsterdam and conducted a clinical study investigating the impact of soreness of masticatory muscles on masticatory function. Through the research experiences, she got interested in social perspective to deal with (oral) health issues, which provided a motivation for her to learn public health. In 2023, she received her MPH from Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health and has been involved in research on public health policy and social determinants of (oral) health at iGHP and TMDU.
