MESSAGE

My research aims to contribute global health projects bridging practical knowledge on the field and evidence-based health implementation. I am interested in training programs to foster future global health professionals.

NARRATIVE CV

Ms. Wakabayashi earned Ph.D. in Medical Science, Epidemiology. Her research interests include social epidemiology to prevent non-communicable disease (NCDs), health delivery systems, and global health strategies.

Her Ph.D. research involved an international collaborative research project, “Thai Cohort Study”, jointly done by Australia National University and Sukhothai Thammathirat Open University in Thailand. She researched socio-economic aspects related to drinking in Thailand with an interdisciplinary team of medical doctors, psychologists, anthropologists, sociologists, and economists. She did fieldwork, quantitative and qualitative analyses to reveal the outbreak mechanism of antimicrobial resistance from food at the community level in Vietnam during her master’s program. The experience of an internship with UNICEF Viet Nam helped to expand her skills and knowledge in cross-cutting research. In addition, she acquired basic knowledge over the health system in the WHO Western Pacific Regional Office and drafted the Health Delivery System Profile in Japan.

She worked on projects such as medical tourism and developing medical innovative clusters while she was in Deloitte Touche Thoumastu LLC. She was a designed assistant professor for the "Women Leaders Program to Promote Well-being in Asia" at Nagoya University. She conducted lectures about "Healthcare System in Asia" and manages fieldwork programs in Myanmar and the Philippines. She has extensive experience as a project coordinator in the “Project for Strengthening the ASEAN Regional Capacity on Disaster Health Management” by JICA.
