“Problem drinkers and high risk-taking behaviors under the stay-at-home policy of the COVID-19 emergency declaration” by Dr. Wakabayashi et al. has been published in the BMC Public Health.

The paper entitled “Problem drinkers and high risk-taking behaviors under the stay-at-home policy of the COVID-19 emergency declaration” by Dr. Wakabayashi et al. has been published in the BMC Public Health.

This paper describes whether problem drinkers are likely to follow high risk-taking behaviors such as dining out at bars, meeting people, or going to crowded places against the stay-at-home policy of the COVID-19 emergency declaration. Using cross-sectional data from a nationwide internet survey in Japan, we identified problem drinkers by the CAGE questions and assessed 18 different behaviors under the first COVID-19 emergency declaration from April to May 2020. In sum, problem drinkers were more likely to have high risk-taking behaviors against the stay-at-home policy.
