[Publication] A new paper titled “Development and feasibility of an oral health e-learning program for long-term Japanese overseas workers: a pilot randomized controlled trial” by Specially Appointed Researcher Sasayama et al. was published at BMC Oral health.

An oral health self-care e-learning material for overseas workers was developed using the Information-Motivation-Behavioural skills model to assess feasibility and acceptability. 99 study participants were randomly assigned to either an intervention group (e-learning material + pamphlet) or a control group (pamphlet). After 3 months, fluoride use behavior, oral health knowledge, motivation, and behavioral skills, and oral-related quality of life were measured.

As a result, oral health care knowledge improved in the intervention group, with 70.4% of participants indicating that the e-learning intervention had changed their behavior.

This pilot study provided evidence that a theory-based self-care e-learning intervention for oral health is feasible in overseas workers.
